Elkader Register, 24 June 1885. From the Ossian Bee, undated.

The Ossian Bee: Robert McKernan formerly of this county, but lately of Troy, N.Y., died at that city, last Wednesday morning. The deceased was well known in this place, and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. The news of his death will, no doubt, be heard with sorrow by his many friends. The remains have been forwarded and will be interred at Elkader, where his wife is buried.

Although the obit gives burial place as Elkader, Robert McKiernan has a gravestone in St. Mary's cemetery, Troy, Rensselaer County, New York. View it on Find a Grave. His LW&T is available on Ancestry (surname spelled McKiernan)
