Elkader Register, 17 June 1885. Elkport column.

On Thursday occurred the death of Mrs. Piehl, from consumption. Mrs. Piehl has lived here for many years, has raised a family and was well and favorably known. Her funeral occurred on Sunday and was largely attended. She leaves a husband and family of grown up children, one of her daughters being the wife of Chas. Laxson.

(Note: WPA records indicate Louisa Piehl, 1826 - 11 June 1885, buried in Elkport cemetery.)
