Elkader Register, 18 Mar. 1885.

DIED - At her home near Mederville, on Friday last, occurred the death of Mrs. William Leonard, after a short sickness; aged about twenty-five years. She leaves a husband and three children to mourn the loss of a devoted wife and kind mother. The funeral occurred on Sunday last, her remains being laid away to their final rest in the Catholic cemetery at this place.

Notes: Gravestone in St. Joseph's cemetery, Elkader identifies her as Mary A., w/o W. F. Leonard, died 3/13/1885. The 1934 obituary of William F. Leonard (see on this obit board), gives her maiden name as Carter.
