Funeral services were held in St. John's Lutheran church in Farmersburg for Herman Klinkenberg, last Saturday with burial in the old Clayton Center cemetery, the Rev. H.M. Adix officiating.
Herman Klinkenberg, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Klinkenberg, was born December 25, 1864 in this county.
On June 19, 1890, he was united in marriage to Minnie Mueller, and together with her settled on a farm near St. Olaf, Iowa. To this union were born four children, Lucy, Mrs. Arthur Schmidt; Fred and Bertha, who died in infancy; Mathilda, Mrs. Henry Lubbers.
For 27 years Mr. Klinkenberg farmed, then retired to live in Farmersburg, for almost 22 years. About two years ago he suffered a stroke which left him weakened and feeble in body and mind. On Tuesday evening of last week he took sick, dying on Wednesday evening at about 9 o'clock. Death caused by old age and complications.
He reached the ripe old age of 75 years and nine days.
He leaves to mourn his widow, his two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Schmidt and Mrs. Henry Lubbers, also two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Radloff and Mrs. John Martins; also one brother, Henry Klinkenberg; two grandchildren, two great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Out-of-town relatives who attended the services were: Mrs. Frank Howe of Charles City; Charles and Paul Faber and Mr. and Mrs. Arno Faber, all of Ionia, Iowa.
