Elkader Register, 27 May 1844.
On Friday evening last, at the residence of his parents in Clayton, occurred the death of Frank Freund, the youngest son of Christ. and Anna Freund, at the age of 24 years and 8 days. Although not entirely unexpected, for that fell destroyer, consumption, had claimed him as a victim, Frank's death has fallen as a heavy blow upon the hearts of his parents and many friends. In his last moments he longed to be free from the sufferings of this world, and seemed to feel only for those that were left behind, his last words being "I am sorry that I have troubled you so much."
The funeral occurred at Clayton on Sunday last, and was largely attended, Rev. F. W. Seifert officiating.
