Elkader Register, Fri., 28 Mar. 1884.

Last Monday evening, while returning home from McGregor, where he had been on business, Daniel Hagerty, an old and respected citizen of Giard township, was run over and killed by the cars, the engine and two cars passing over him and mangling his body horribly. Mr. Hagerty was well known all over Clayton County, and has numerous friends who will greatly regret to learn of his untimely death.
