DEATH OCCURS FOR MRS. WINKEL AT 85
Aged Rock Island Resident Dies After Extended Illness.
Mrs. Louisa Winkel.
Mrs. Louisa Winkel, 85, 2409 1/2 Seventh avenue, Rock Island, widow of Otto H. Winkel and a resident of the city 17 years, died at 5:30 o’clock this morning in St. Anthony’s hospital following an illness of three months.
Mrs. Winkel, whose maiden name was Miss Louisa Sheppard, was born Dec. 23, 1850, in Cleveland, Ohio. As a small child she moved with her parents to North McGregor, Iowa, and received her education in the schools there.
She was married in North McGregor to Otto H. Winkel, and the couple made their home in Dubuque, and 17 years ago moved to Rock Island. Mr. Winkel died June 18 [sic]. Mrs. Winkel was a mother in the Pythian sisterhood.
Surviving are a son, Fred D. Winkel, with whom she made her home, and a sister, Mrs. Regina Wehler of Pocahontas, Iowa.
The body was removed to Knox mortuary.

Funeral of Mrs. Winkel.
Funeral services for Mrs. Louisa Winkel, 85, 2409 1/2 Seventh avenue, will be at 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon in the Knox mortuary chapel. Burial will be in Chippiannock cemetery.

Mrs. Louisa Winkel, 85, of 2409 1/2 Seventh avenue, Rock Island, died at 5:30 this morning in St. Anthony’s hospital. She was the widow of Otto H. Winkel and a resident of Rock Island seventeen years.
Mrs. Winkel was born Dec. 23, 1850, in Cleveland, O. She came with her parents to North McGregor, Ia., when a small child and was educated in the schools there. She was married in North McGregor to Otto H. Winkel and the couple lived in Dubuque until moving to Rock Island seventeen years ago. Mr. Winkel died June 18, 1922. Mrs. Winkel was a mother in the Pythian sisterhood.
Surviving are a son Dr. [sic] Fred D. Winkel, with whom she made her home, and a sister, Mrs. Regina Wehler of Pocahontas, Ia.
The body was removed to Knox mortuary pending funeral arrangements.
