Elkader Register, 23 Sept. 1880. Volga column.

Diphtheria has been raging at this place and the excitement has been very high. Over 20 cases, of grown persons and children have been reported. James Wilson has lost two children.

Clayton county death records, Book 1, pg 8 include entries for Olive Ann Wilson, age 16 and Alva Wilson, age 8. Died on 9/11/1880 & 9/13/1880 of Diphtheria and buried Volga City.
