Elkader Register, Thur., 10 June 1880.
From H. R. Eagle we learn of the drowning of D. J. Jones, in the Mississippi river, at North McGregor, on Saturday evening last. Mr. Jones and a companion started from North for South McGregor in a skiff, but the wind drove waves into the boat, and fearing it would swamp the boat, they jumped out, and Jones' companion swam safely to land. D. E. Groute, agent of the C.M. & St.P. R.R., at North McGregor, has offered a reward of $100. for the recovery of Jones' body.
