BURNED - SAD ACCIDENT
On Friday morning Miss Tillie Kramer, employed in the family of W.F. Huntting, was engaged in making soap, and while stirring the soap her dress caught fire. She did not notice it until she got into the kitchen, when the blaze had enlarged. She ran toward the door but was caught by Mrs. Burdick and held, when Mrs. Huntting seized a quilt and wrapped it around her, thus smothering the fire. An examination by Dr. Hunt, who was immediately called, showed that she was badly burned on the limbs, side and one hand.

She has been in a precarious condition, but is reported better and likely to recover. It will be remembered that Friday was a very windy day, and had she succeeded in reaching out doors doubtless she would have perished. The ladies of the house showed great presence of mind in the action they took, and without doubt saved the girl's life. It was a narrow escape from a frightful death.

DIED - At the residence of W.F. Huntting, in McGregor, April 6th, 1880, Miss Otiley Kramer, aged 22 years, 2 months and 18 days.

The subject of this sketch was the daughter of Jacob Kramer; born in McGregor Jan. 18th, 1858, baptised Feb. 24th, 1858, became a member of the Presbyterian church Maay 19th, 1873, in which society she has continued a devoted member. She has been connected with the Sunday school since six years of age, and for the past three years an active worker and teacher in the school.

She has been engaged in the family of W.F. Huntting for the past four years and eight months. The accident on the 12th of March, when she was badly burned while at tending the making of soap, was the immediate cause of her death; her sufferings for twenty five days were of the most intense, and though reasonable hopes were entertained of her recovery, on Sunday last she showed symptoms of failing strength, which continued despite the best efforts of her attendants and physician, until noon on Tuesday when she passed into that sleep that knows no wakening.

Miss Kramer was a lady highly appreciated by all who knew her, a consistent, earnest Christian Her death comes to the community in sadness at the untimely and sorrowful manner of her taking off.

God be with the family and personal friends in this hour of their deep sorrow; comfort and shield them. The funeral takes place to-day at 1 o'clock, at the German Presbyterian church.
