Elkader Register, Thur., 22 Jan. 1880. Local column.

Christian Beer, of Highland twp., returned home from a visit to his motherland, Switzerland, on the 10th inst., only to find his home in mourning, his youngest child having died on the 9th, while two other members of his family were dangerously sick. It was a sad greeting for the father and husband.

Note: 1880 mortality schedule, Highland twp., names him as Christ Beer, age 2, of croup; parents born Switzerland
