Elkader Register, Thur., 04 Sept. 1890. Garnavillo column.

DIED - At the home of his mother, in Garnavillo, on Saturday, Aug. 30, John William Thoma, aged 24 years, 3 months and 8 days. Wm. had been suffering for several years with consumption. Few years ago he left his home and went to Nebraska in the hope of finding relief. He remained there a year, and finding no relief he returned home about a year ago to die. He was a young man of promise, one in whom his widowed mother placed great confidence and trust. His remains were buried at the new cemetery on Monday.
