Elkader Register, Thur., 24 Nov. 1898. Volga column.
On Sunday evening about six o'clock occurred the death of the little two year old son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Boland. It is with grief that we learn that its death was caused by being scalded. On Saturday evening Mrs. Boland had scalded a pail of milk for the calves and set it on a bench, not thinking of the little one, who came up unobserved and pulled it over on himself, scalding him so badly that death relieved him after suffering twenty-four hours. The funeral was held Tuesday, Rev. Shiffer officiating. Those who mourn have the sympathy of the entire community.
