Elkader Register, Thur., 27 Oct. 1898. Elkport column.
Last Saturday Clara Eggerth, the 8 year-old daughter of Edward Eggerth, swallowed a collar button which lodged in her wind pipe and she died before help could arrive. This is the third death in Mr. Eggerth's family within a year and we deeply sympathize with the afflicted family in their sad bereavement. The funeral took place Monday and was largely attended. The scholars of the primary department attended the funeral in a body paying their last respects to their playmate who went home from school Friday evening happy and contented and Saturday lay still in death. Father Minogue officiated.
