Elkader Register, Thur., 01 Sept. 1898.

On Sunday last occurred the death of Mrs. John Moran of old age and general disability. Mary Kelly was born in county Killd_re, Ireland. She came to America, and about 1848, in New York, married John Moran. They came to Elkader about 1852 first living in a house by the Universalist church, and afterwards moving to the Brownson log house in lower Elkader. To them were born nine children, of whom six survive, being, Rosa, Frank, Kate, Joseph, Wm. and David. Mr. Moran died Nov. 13th, 1884. The funeral was held from St. Joseph's church Tuesday, Rev. Father Reilly officiating.
