Elkader Register, Thur., 18 Aug. 1898.

The Leader in its last issue gives the following in regard to the death at Monona, Wednesday morning, Aug. 10, 1898, of Christian Frederick Taake, aged 67 years and 13 days.

Mr. Taake was born in Westphalia, Germany, July 28th, 1831. At the age of 23 he came to America and settled in Lancaster County, Penn. Here he married Johanna Myer. Three children were born to this union, J. F. Taake, now residing at Waverly, Iowa; Mrs. Miller, nee Mary S. Taake, residing in Chicago; and Henry W. at home.

The family moved to Iowa in the spring of 1869 and settled at Elkport, in this county, from there they moved to Garnavillo, in which township they resided for nine years when they moved to Monona township, taking up their residence in town in 1895, on the completion of the handsome residence now occupied by the family. Mr. Taake was a consistent and true member of the German Lutheran society and took great interest in the promotion and welfare of that society.

A good man, an honest man, a citizen and neighbor admired and respected. He was measureably successful in his business engagements and acquired a competency which leaves his family in good circumstances.

The sympathy of the community is with the afflicted family.

The funeral was held Friday afternoon, Rev. Graening officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Wolf and Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Liebrock, of this place, were in attendance, the deceased being a brother of Mesdames Wolf and Leibrock.

(Note: Both spellings of the surname Liebrock/Leibrock appeared in the article.)
