Elkader Register, Thur., 07 July 1898.

This community was startled on Wednesday morning when it was announced that Mrs. John Neylon, of this township, had died about four o'clock that morning after giving birth to a son. Mrs. Lucy Neylon was a daughter of the late Patrick Cain, and was born in this county about 43 years ago. She leaves a distressed husband and a family of two sons and six daughters, the youngest the infant son for whom she has given her live. Besides these an aged mother, four brothers, James Cain, of Cincinnati, Ohio; Dr. J. W., Waukon; P. J. and Joseph, and one sister, Mrs. Dennis Melary, of Boardman twp., mourn her untimely demise. Words are inadequate to express the sympathy that is felt for the sorrowing husband and children that are suddenly bereft of wife and mother, their best of earthly friends. Suely a merciful Father will afford them some comfort and consolation. The funeral will be held Friday morning at about 9 o'clock from the home and at 10 o'clock from St. Joseph's church.
