Mrs. S. C. Truman, after a lingering illness of one year, died at her home in this city Friday evening. Deceased's maiden name was Maria Antoinette Shoemaker. She was born July 31, 1829, died April 21, 1898, at the age of 68 years. She was married to Silas Chapman Mar. 13, 184_. Seven children were born to them. Mr. Chapman died in 1860. She was married to S. C. Truman Mar. 25, 1871, who with her four daughters, other kindred and many friends and neighbors are left to mourn her departure into the land of eternity. Funeral services were held at the M.E. church Saturday, Rev. Shiffer officiating.

DIED -- At Volga, April 21, 1898, Mrs. Maria Antoinette Truman. Mrs. Truman was born in Susquehanna County, Penn., July 31, 1829. She moved to Ohio in 1816 and was married to Silas Chapman March 13, 1849. She and husband emigrated from Ohio to Clinton County, Michigan in 1852 and from Michigan to Iowa in 1856.Mr. Chapman died in 1860 and Mrs. Chapman was married to S.C. Truman on March 25, 1871.
There were born by her first marriage, seven children of whom four daughters remain, Mrs. Conel of Greely, Mrs. E. Lang of Strawberry Pont and Mrs. Steven Squires of Arlington who were with her as much as possible during her illness of a years duration. the other daughter living in Kansas could not come.
Mrs. Truman as Land lady of the City House had many friends who will mourn with the family over a loved one gone.
The funeral occurred Saturday at 10 o'clock in the M.E. church. Rev. Shiffer preaching a short discourse and the remains were laid away in the Cox Creek cemetery. Relatives from surrounding towns were here and all have the sympathy of a large circle of friends.
