After an illness of about one week Mrs. Godfried Bandow Sr. died at her home at this place, at noon, Wednesday, Feb. 16th, 1898. Anna Sophia Schultz was born at Cossebau, in the Altmark, Germany, Feb. 11, 1817. On Aug. 27, 1852, she married Godfried Bannow, and in 1865 with her husband and family came to the United States, coming direct to this county and after a short stay near McGregor, settled on a farm in Wagner twp., which was their home for many years. In the fall of 1890 they moved to Elkader and here on Nov. 8, 1894, Mr. Bandow preceded in death. Deceased was the mother of five children, three of whom, Carl, Godfried and Mrs. Geo. Munger, survive to mourn and revere her memory.
The funeral will take place from the house at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon, Rev. F. W. Seifert officiating.
