Died at his home in Volga twp., on January 15, 1898, Friederich Wilhelm Greiman, aged 88 years, 25 days. Mr. Greiman was one of Clayton county's old pioneers, coming here 45 years ago. Mr. Greiman was born in Stiftquerheim, Westphalia, Germany, on Dec. 20, 1809. In 1848 he was wedded to Anna Maria Hollbrueger, and in 1853 he with his family, moved to America coming at once to Clayton County, where he purchased a farm near Ceres, Garnavillo twp., which was his home at the time of his demise. He leaves a sorrowing wife and nine children, five sons and four daughters to mourn the death of a loving and dutiful parent. It is never so painful to see a life whose course is run take its journey across the silent river, when the knowledge that that life has been well spent, is present to comfort one. But still the family of Mr. Greiman will miss the life long companionship to which they had grown accustomed. We offer our hearty sympathy to the bereaved family.
