Elkader Register, Fri., 03 July 1896.

On Suday last, June 28th, after a few weeks' illness occurred the death of Barbara, wife of John F. Meyer, of Boardman twp. Barbara Meyer, nee Finkenkeller, was born at St. Louis, Nov. 19, 1843. Her first husband was Jansen Thompson by whom she had six children, three of whom, two sons and a daughter, survive. Only about six weeks ago, she was united in marriage with Mr. Meyer, and had but settled in her new home to enjoy its comforts when disease has carried her away. It is a sad blow for Mr. Meyer and family. The funeral was held Monday afternoon, Rev. Seifert officiating.
