Elkader Register, Fri., 17 Jan. 1896.

One of the old residents of Read twp., died Monday evening, Jan. 13, 1896, at the age of about 70 years. He was born in Ireland, and after coming to America, lived in Boston several years. He came to Clayton County about 35 years ago. He leaves a wife and seven living children, John, Maggie and Michael at Merrill, Wis., and Joseph, Frank, George and Mary at home. The family have the sympathy of their many friends in their sorrow. The funeral was held Wednesday from St. Joseph's, the services being conducted by Rev. Father O'Donnell, of McGregor.
