GOTTLIEB STROSCHEIN
Gottlieb Stroschein, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Stroschein, was born on a farm near Guttenberg April 13, 1876, and was baptized at the Ceres church near Garnavillo and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran church on March 30, 1890. He grew to manhood in this vicinity. His parents preceded him in death while he was still a young man. He made his home with his brother, William, who died six years ago. In 1945 he left this community to make his home with his sister Hannah at Clear Lake.
Survivors are one sister, Mrs. Geo. (Hannah) Albers, Clear Lake, and one brother, Henry, of Garnavillo. Two sisters, Amelia and Bertha, and two brothers, Julius and William, preceded him in death.
While living in the Elkport community he was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran church and was caretaker for a number of years of the cemetery in which he was buried. He assisted his brother in operating a sawmill for many years. / During the last two years of his life he spent many weeks in a hospital at Mason City. He died at Mason City on Nov. 22, at the age of 72 years, seven months, and nine days.
Funeral services were held at Immanuel Lutheran church at Elkport at 1:30 Saturday afternoon. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery. Pallbearers were Howard Krieg, Carl Krieg, George Costigan, John Knospe, John Wittman, and Ray Finnegan.
