Elkader Register, Fri., 04 Oct. 1895. Local columns.

DIED - At the residence of her father in Cox Creek twp., Tuesday morning, Bertha, daughter of Peter Broel, after an illness of nearly one year. She was born Jan. 10th, 1878, and was almost 18 years old. Her mother died some eight years ago; but besides the father, several brothers and sisters and a number of relatives mourn that thus early in life they are called to part with one beloved. The funeral was held Wednesday forenoon, Chas. Ruegnitz making a sympathetic address in English and German, as the departed one was laid away in the Elkader cemetery. The Elkader Gesang Verein assisted with appropriate sonds.
