Kenneth L. Woerm, 69, a former McGregor businessman, died Friday, March 26, at Veteran's Hospital in Iowa City following surgery.

He was born Dec. 21, 1912 in Waukon, the son of Alvin and Martha (Knudtson) Woerm. He graduated from McGregor High School in 1913, and married the former Margaret Eggen on June 6, 1936.

Mr. Woerm joined the U.S. Navy SeaBees in 1943, serving in World War II.

He was an employee of the Trausch Baking Company, and for years he owned and operated Woerm's Plumbing and Heating. He owned Woerm's Wiggle-In for 27 years, until his health failed.

Mr. Woerm served on the McGregor City Council and was a member of the volunteer fire department. He was a member of the First Congregational Church and managed the Twin-Cities baseball camp for several years.

He was a charter member of the Clayton County Amvets Post at National, a member of the American Legion Post No. 267 in McGregor ad Amvets Post No. 108.

Mr. Woerm was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marcella Weir.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; a son, Donald, of El Cajon, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Linda) Banfield of Morris, Minn., and Mrs. Roger (Rita Kay) Lange of McGregor; eight grandchildren, David, Debra, Diane and Duane Lange; Diana and Steven Woerm; Lisa and Carmen Banfield; a step-granddaughter, Christa Saddler; a nephew, Charles Weir of Oelwein; and a grand niece, Trina Weir, of Prairie du Chien, Wis.

No services were held as Mr. Woerm donated his body to the University of Iowa Science and Research department.
