Elkader Register, Fri., 05 July 1895.
Monday afternoon, July 1st, 1895, occurred the death, at the residence of her parents in Elkader, of Amelia, wife of Wm. Schoulte, of Farmersburg twp., and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pahlas, of this place, in the 34th year of her age. Mrs. Schoulte has been in poor health since the birth of her little son, and several months since came to Elkader for medical treatment. It was thought she was getting well, when last Thursday she was taken suddenly worse and died Monday, as stated, fully conscious that she was passing into the great beyond.
She leaves a husband, two children, her parents, a brother, H. C. Pahlas, of this place, and one sister Mrs. Louis Miller, of Farmersburg twp., who are sorely grieved to part with one so beloved.
From all who have had the pleasure of Mrs. Schoulte's acquaintance comes the same expression of sorrow that one so kind in disposition and so truly womanly should be thus early taken from her family, but it is ever thus, for death loves a shining mark. Would that we could offer some little consolation, with the great sympathy that goes out to the stricken ones.
The funeral was held from the east side church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. F. W. Seifert officiating, assisted by Rev. F. Fisk, of this place. The interment being in the Elkader cemetery, according to her request.

In the notice of the death of Mrs. William Schulte in our last issue, we should have said her sister was Mrs. John Miller, of Clayton twp., instead of Mrs. Louis Miller, of Farmersburg. We supposed that those who informed us knew.
