Elkader Register, Fri., 21 June 1895.

On Thursday, June 13th, 1895, Louisa wife of John F. Stein, of Boardman twp., and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kottman, of Cox Creek departed this life. Monday evening she gave birth to a child, and appeared to be doing well when on Tuesday she was attacked by a fever which medical skill could not abate and she sank to rest. She was born in Cox Creek twp., Aug. 31st, 1874, and was married only about a year. The funeral was held on Sunday last, Rev. F. W. Siefert delivered an affecting sermon while the Elkader Gesang Verein furnished appropriate music. The interment was in the East Side cemetery. It is inexpressibly sad that a young mother should lay down her life as in this case. Our sympathy goes out to the young husband and the family whose grief appeared almost inconsolable.
