Herman Marti
Herman Philip Marti, 68, died April 6 at his home in Luana.
Services were Thursday at Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. April Larson. Burial was in the Old West Paint Creek Church Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were by Martin's Funeral Home, Waukon.
Pallbearers were Robert Marti, Neil Leas, Lester Fish, George Decker, Carl Thornton and Elmer Rush.
Marti was born in Make Township in Allamakee County on June 29, 1918, the son of Philip and Inga Sorum Marti. He was educated in rural schools in the area and farmed all his life except for serving in the Navy during World War II.
He was a member of the American Legion.
He was never married. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Alton and Victor. Survivors include a sister, Alice, of Luana, and 6 brothers, Lester and Gordon of Luana, Wilbur and Kenneth of Waukon, Marvin of Lansing and Grant of Dubuque.
