Mrs. John Martins Passes At Her Home In Luana
Mrs. John Martins, 70, passed away Sunday morning at her home in Luana unexpectedly and funeral services are being held this afternoon at St. John's Lutheran church in Luana, the Rev. H. Adix of Farmersburg officiating. Burial will be made in the Luana Lutheran cemetery. Pallbearers are eight grandsons, Harvey, Harold and Lloyd Lenth, Elmer and Melvin Radloff, Delbert and Donald Martins and Jack Martins.
As Mary Klinkenberg the deceased was born March 31, 1871, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Klinkenberg in Farmersburg township, Clayton county. She spent her childhood and young womanhood in the parental home and on October 30, 1891, she was married to John Martins to which union seven children were born. They lived on a farm in Grand Meadow township until the spring of 1929, when they retired to Luana.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran church and the Ladies' Aid Society of that church in both which she took an active part.
She is survived by her husband and the following children: Leska Martins, Luana; Mrs. Gus Lenth, Farmersburg, Mrs. William Radloff, Luana; Mrs. Walter Tietz, Decorah; John J. Martins, Postville; Mrs. Roy Saacke, Farmersburg; and Gerwin Martins, Luana. Also surviving are one brother, Henry Klinkenberg, Monona; three brothers and a sister having passed away previously. There are 26 surviving grandchildren, one great-grand son and many other relatives and friends.
