Elkader Register, Fri., 19 Apr. 1895.

On Friday morning Mrs. Jarius Munger, who had been ill for several weeks from a paralytic stroke, passed away to her eternal rest. Cordelia Armstrong was born Feb. 28, 1827, in Cayuga County, N.Y. She was married to Jarius Munger April 12, 1849. They came to Clayton County and located in Read twp. in 1867, where they resided until 1881, when they moved to this township on the farm at the foot of Stevenson's hill. Eight children were born to them, of whom five, Mrs. Lyman Tyler, Mrs. Isabel Hendershot, Mrs. Homer Ellis, Mrs. Clara Whitcomb and Ernest Munger, survive her. Two sisters, Mrs. Esther Maranville, of Ohio, and Mrs. Lucinda Broughton, of Monroe County, Wis., and one brother, Chester Armstrong, of McKane County, Pa., are also left to mourn for the lost, besides 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The aged husband is called upon to mourn a faithful, loving wife, one who by her energy and hard work has contributed much to enable him to fight the battle of life and enjoy the peacefulness of old age. The chhildren have parted with the best of earthly friends, while the neighbors lose one who was ever ready to extend a helping hand. Mrs. Munger was conscious to the last, and having made preparations for her funeral, sank to rest in the faith of Jesus Christ.

The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the East Side church, Rev. F. I. Stevens preaching the discourse, in the presence of a large attendance of the friends of the family. The interment was in the East Side cemetery, kind hands having endeavored to soften the shock of the open grave by lining it with evergreens. May our kind friend enjoy the blessedness of eternal bliss.
