At her home in Boardman twp., west of Elkader on Thursday, Jan. 17, occurred the death of Mrs. Wm. Roach, after a lingering illness of about two years caused by la grippe. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Hayes, formerly of Cox Creek twp., and was born March 4, 1861. She was married to Wm. Roach Sept. 29, 1885, and has since became the mother of five children, three of whom have preceded her in death. She leaves besides the two remaining children and grief-stricken husband her mother, father, three sisters; Della, who has been here since last July, Maggie and Mrs. Dorweiler of Whittemore, Iowa, and one brother, Michael Hayes, also of Whittemore, all of whom were present at the funeral which took place Sat. Jan. 19 at the Catholic Church in Elkader. The services were conducted by Rev. Father Rowe, assisted by Fathers Coyle and Reilly. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all in their sad affliction.
