Benedict Frieden, an old resident of Marion twp., and a well known and highly respected citizen, died Sunday evening last. The funeral was held Tuesday.

Benedict Frieden, who died in Maron twp., on the 3d inst., was born in 1829 in Rapperswiel, canton Bern, and came to America in 1849 and settled in Ohio, where he married Anna Baumgaerten. They came to Clayton County in 1851, his first wife dying in 1871, leaving six sons and three daughters. He then married Mary Baumgaertner, who dying left him a daughter. About three years ago he married Anna Braeker, who survives him. The funeral took place on Wednesday last attended by a large number of sorrowing friends.
