Elkader Register, Thur., 30 Nov. 1893.

At the residence of her son, E. M. Paul, in Elkader, Tuesday evening Nov. 28th, Peace S. Paul peacefully sank to rest for this life, at the advanced age of 80 years, after a illness of only a few days, from heart trouble.

Peace S. McDonald was born in Saratoga County, N.Y., Oct. 31, 1813, and Jan. 1, 1838, married Wm. J. Paul at Port Jackson, N.Y. They came to Clayton County in 1855, first settling at McGregor, where they resided three or four years. The family then moved to Giard, and shortly afterwards took possession of the farm in Giard twp., where, March 6, 1866, her husband died. Here Mrs. Paul resided until about a year ago, when she came to reside with her son. Three children were born to the family, but a son and daughter preceded her in joining her husband in the golden city, Ed M. alone remaining to mourn over the memory of a kind and faithful mother, whose tottering steps of old age, he with his family have with tenderness and affection endeavored to guide in paths of safety and comfort.

The funeral will take place this Thursday morning, at 10 o'clock, from the residence of E. M. Paul, where services will be held by the Rev. R. C. Lusk. The remains will be taken to the Giard cemetery for burial.
