DIED - At Fayette, Iowa, on the 18th day of February, 1859, Mrs. Rachel Updegraff, mother of Mrs. Elijah Odell, of McGregor, and of T. Updegraff, Esq., of Guttenberg.

The deceased was born in Lycoming county, Pennsylvania, May 6th, 1800, and died at the ripe age of 59 years.

She joined the Methodist Church when only 17 years old, and she has lived a faithful and exemplary member of the same. When about to enter "the valley of the shadow of death," she expressed entire resignation to the will of Him who had been her guiding star through life. She professed perfect peace of mind, and said she did not regret "going home."

The body was brought to McGregor on Sunday last, and a Funeral discourse pronounced at the Methodist Episcopal Church, by Rev. E. Warner.
