---------

Elkader Register, Thur., 01 June 1893.

Amelia Bristol was born in Port Jervis, Orange County, N.Y., March 13th, 1840, where she resided until she was 15 years of age.

Her parents then came west and finally located in Colesburg, Iowa, where she grew to the full bloom of Womanhood.

On the 22nd of May, 1861, she was married to John V. Bush, of Colesburg, who now realizes by his loss more than ever the prize he won. About the first of April she was taken sick, and Wednesday, May 21, she was called to that bourne whence no traveler returns.

Her husband, a married son and daughter, Wilber, at Colesburg, Mrs. Dr. Litchfield, at Elkader, and four younger children are left to mourn and to testify to her many good qualities as a wife and mother.

She was beloved by a wide circle of friends and neighbors, all who came in contact with her feeling that a cheerful and kindly presence had come into their lives, The funeral was held at the home in Colesburg, Thursday, the 25th, and was largely attended.

The interment was made in the Brown cemetery, north of town. At the grave Dr. Toble made a few appropriate remarks in eulogy of the dead, and of comfort to the bereaved.
