Elkader Register, Thur., 18 Oct. 1894. Clayton column.
We have the painful duty of announcing the death of Mrs. Peter Beckett, which occurred on the 10th inst. She had lived among us for many years and was a good, Christian woman, loved by all for her good qualities. She leaves a sorrowing husband and four sons to mourn her loss. May God be their comforter. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Lockwood, of McGregor, his text being John II, 25th and 26th versus, "Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live, and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this." We feel sure that Mrs. Beckett believed and trusted God's promises, and her husband and friends feel confident that she is in Heaven. this morning. There was a large congregation present and the church was nicely decorated with flowers and wreaths. Peace be to her ashes.
