Elkader Register, Thur., 12 July 1894.
Eliza A. Libby, the subject of this sketch, who died at Volga, July 1st, 1894, was born in the state of New York, May 14th, 1830. She moved from New York to South Bend, Indiana, from there to Belot, Wisconsin, where she was married to J. W. Libby. April 12, 1855. Soon after marriage they moved to Elkader. In April, 1872, the family moved to Volga City. At the age of 17 the deceased joined the Baptist church. Soon after settling in Elkader she joined the M.E. church, of which she remained a faithful and consistent member until called to her reward above. Seven children were born to them, four of whom survive their mother, with her much respected husband. In all respects he exhibits the highest type of Christian manhood. While they mourn her absence it is her joy and gain. A large number attended her funeral from Elkader and other points. She is held in affectionate rememberance by the W.C.T.U., who covered her casket and grave with beautiful flowers.
