Elkader Register, Thur., 10 May 1894.

On the third of May at her home near Osborne, Veronica, wife of Owen Moyna, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Conboy, of Cox Creek, departed this life after a short illness. Although she had been ailing for some time her death seemed sudden and unexpected to all her friends.

She did not seem to realize that she was so sick, and was in hopes she would soon recover from her sickness. When anyone mentioned death to her she would say she was not going to die, and hoped she would soon be better. Mrs. Moyna was born Jan. 20, 1873, and died May 3rd, 1894, being 21 years, 3 months and 13 days of age at the time of her death. She was taken to her bed, Thursday, April 26th, but had been ailing for some time previous. She bore her sickness bravely and patiently until the last. She lived to enjoy only two short years of married life. She said she regretted to die and leave her husband and child alone.

She had a kind and loving disposition, and her winning ways gained her a large circle of friends, who will deeply mourn her loss. She was a devoted wife, an affectionate mother, a loving sister and a kind and obedient daughter. She was held in high esteem and respect by all with whom she associated, and her sudden and early death cast a gloom of sorrow over the entire community. One child, a little girl, a kind husband, a loving father and mother, two sisters and one brother are left to mourn the loss of a cherished member of the family circle.

The funeral services were held at the Catholic church on Friday morning, conducted by Rev. Father Rowe, of Strawberry Point. Her remains were followed by a large concourse of sympathizing friends and laid to rest in the Cox Creek cemetery. May she rest in peace.
