On Thursday, April 12th, after an illness of nearly a year, Patrick Liddy, of Boardman twp., passed away, and Clayton County loses another of our early settlers. Mr. Liddy was born in county Clare, Ireland in 1801, and married Bridget Griffin in 1846. In 1850 with his family he came to America, and after living four years in Brattleboro, Vt., and a few months at Chicago, settled in Read twp., in 1855, and afterwards came to this township. By his hard work he had gained a comfortable competence of this world's treasure. To him were born nine children, three of whom, Timothy, of Allamakee County; Jerry, of Boardman twp., and Frank, of Rock Rapids, with the aged wife and mother survive the death of the husband and father. The funeral was held at St. Joseph's church Saturday, Rev. Father Reilly officiating, and was attended by many who came to pay a tribute of respect to the friend of many years.
