Elkader Register, Thur., 5 Apr. 1894.
On Thursday, March 29th, Etta, wife of Dr. Fred Ainsworth, at their home in Elkader, passed away to that undiscovered beyond, leaving her husband, parents and friends almost inconsolable in their grief, and a tender infant without a mother's love and care.
Etta Gable was born Jan. 27th, 1862, in Winnebago County, Illinois, and at the age of 6 years came to Taylorsville, Iowa, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gable. After living here a few years they moved to their farm two miles southeast of Brush Creek, where she lived until April 30th, 1890, when she married Dr. Fred Ainsworth, and about two years ago came to Elkader to reside, where her husband has practiced as a veterinarian surgeon. On Feb. 12th she gave birth to an infant, from which she never recovered, indeed she had stated to her friends that she could not and had made her preparations, nevertheless it has come as a shock to all. Our community grieves with the family in their afflicton.
After a short service at the house on Friday Mrs. Ainsworth was taken to Brusk Creek where the funeral services were held on Sunday. Rev. Mr. Lusk officiated and it is stated that nearly seven hundred persons testified their affection for the dead and sympathy for the bereaved by their presence at the last sad rites.
