On Tuesday morning John Jacob Astfalk died suddenly from la grippe and old age. He was born at Winenden, Wurtemberg, July 19, 1819, and was nearly 75 years old at his death. He learned the wagonmaker's trade in Germany, and for the past thirty-three years has been employed with the Schochs, father and son, as a wagon maker. His only near relative here is his niece, Mrs. Jos. A. Winterlin. The funeral took place Wednesday, attended by many friends of past years.
