Elkader Register, 11 Jan. 1894. Garnavillo column.
Died at his home in Garnavillo, on Friday, Dec. 29th, Emil Mathias Walleser, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Walleser. He was born in Garnavillo, Jan. 27th, 1889. Thus the light of the household has been ruthlessly extinguished by the grim destroyer. Little Mattie was the pride of the fond parents, the joy of the family. His innocent prattle, his winning manners, his joyous happy glee made him a great favorite among his playmates, a welcome visitor in every household. All will miss him. Profound, immeasuarbly great must be the grief of the bereaved parents. Were it possible, gladly would we pour the healing balm of sympathy and comfort into the wounded hearts of the parents. Let them find strength and peace in the assurance of Him who spoke, "Suffer little children to come unto me, for of such is the kingdom of heaven," that death is but the beginning of life. His remains were buried in the Catholic cemetery. = Sentinel.
