Elkader Register, Thur., 31 Dec. 1891.

DIED - At his home in Garnavillo on Friday morning, Dec. 25, 1891, Mr. Jacob Sur*, at the age of 59 years. Mr. Sur was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, and emigrated to this country in 1859, and settled on a farm in Clayton Centre. He moved to Garnavillo five years ago. Mr. Sur was a blacksmith and machinist by profession and, aside from his farm work did much repairing. It has been said of him that he could make everything, from a knitting needle to a threshing machine. Besides his widow, two daughters survive to mourn the loss of a kind husband and father. His funeral occurred on Sunday. His remains were buried at the cemetery in Clayton Centre. May he rest in peace.
