Elizabeth Johanna Trine was born in Porter county, Ind., Feb. 12th, 1842, and died at Elkader, Iowa, July 30th, 1891, at the age of 49 years, 3 months and 18 days. She was married Aug. 21st, 1869, to John A. Ready, who died some years ago. Six children were born to them, five of whom are living.

Mrs. Ready had been a great sufferer from heart disease for the greater portion of the past seven months, but she has borne it very patiently. She made her peace with God and said she was ready to go, that it was but a short distance, and that she had heard her Father calling. Before crossing the dark river of death she called her children about her, and kissed them telling them to be good children. She seemed to be unconscious from Monday morning until Thursday morning, when her spirit took its flight.

The family have the profound sympathy of all our people in their affliction. They are now fatherless and motherless, but all will extend a helping hand to assist them in every worthy undertaking.

The funeral occurred on Thursday afternoon from the East Side church, and was largely attended. Rev. Mr. Perry preached the funeral sermon.
