A telephone message yesterday announced the death at his home in Guttenberg of Henry Eppens, proprietor of the Central House. Mr. Eppens was a native of Hanover, Germany, and at the time of his death was 51 years of age.
He came to the United States when he was 19 years of age, locating in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he worked at his trade of boot and shoe maker.
In 1868 he came to Guttenberg, working at his trade for some years, afterwards entering the hotel business.
He leaves a wife and several children to mourn his death. Mrs. Eppens is a sister of Mrs. C. E. Grotewohl, of this place.

The funeral of Henry Eppens took place last Sunday afternoon under the auspices of Jefferson Lodge, No. 129, A.O.U.W. He was also a member of the Modern Woodmen. A wife, one son and five daughters survive him.
