Elkader Register, Thur., 20 Dec. 1923.

Mrs. J. K. Molumby passed away at her home here last Friday, December 14, at about 3:30 a.m. A few weeks before her death she had an accident which resulted in the breaking of one of her legs. She seemed to be recovering from this accident, but had an attack of heart trouble, from which she did not seem to rally and from the effects she passed away.

Mary A. Molumby, the daughter of John G. and Ellen Murphy, was born at New Diggins, Wisconsin, on July 29th, 1870.

She was the youngest child, and only daughter in a family of six children. She received her early eduucation in the public schools of LaFayette County, Wisconsin, and was married to Elwin Baillie in 1890. They lived at first in Buffalo, N.Y., but on account of her husband's health they moved to Crook, Colorado, where her husband, Mr. Baillie, died in January 1893. She then returned to the home of her parents in Wisconsin. After remaining there a short time to recuperate her health she entered the Nurses Training School of Mercy Hospital, Chicago, where she finished the course prescribed in 1897.

For some time after her graduation she rendered service to the hospital in connection with her training school in other affiliated hospitals, and practiced her profession until 1908, when she came to Elkader to live with and take care of her mother, who was then 83 years of age, until her death in 1917. She had also taken care of her father in his last illness.

On November 12, 1917, she was united in marriage with J. K. Molumby of Elkader, Iowa, and they made their home here in Elkader since that time.

She was buried from the Catholic church at Elkader, the funeral services being conducted by the pastor, Rev. James P. Taken.

Her father and mother preceded her in death and were both comforted during their last sickness by her tender ministrations. One brother, Jas. P. Murphy, died in 1886, at the age of 25 years. She leaves surviving her, her husband, J. K. Molumby; and four brothers, M. J. Murphy of Milwaukee, Wis., John G. Murphy of Revillo, S.D., D. J. Murphy of Waukon, Iowa, and D. D. Murphy of this place.

The funeral was largely attended, many coming from a distance.
