Theodore Koester passed away at his home at Mederville Sunday, July 22, 1923, at the age of 66 years, 3 months and 21 days; after an illness of about forty years duration. The last three years Mr. Koester was completely helpless.

He was born at Guttenberg, Iowa, March 31, 1857, where he passed his boyhood days; and was united in marriage to Emelie Hagen, May 28, 1881, at Osborne, Iowa.

Mr. Koester was for a number of years station agent and operator at Osborne and Mederville, until his health began to fail.

He is survived by his faithful wife, who was at his side during the many years of his illness; one son Elmer, who resides at Milwaukee, and one grandchild; also one sister, Mrs. Mary Gerisch of McGregor, Iowa, and other distant relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon July 25th, 1923, at 1:30 at the home at Mederville, Rev. C. H. Franke of the Evangelical church officiating. Burial was in the Mederville cemetery.
