Elkader Register, Thur., 28 June 1923.
The Reaper Death came again to a human soul calling her away into eternity. In the morning about 4:00 o'clock of June 22, 1923, Mrs. Alvina Breitsprecher has fallen asleep.
Mrs. Alvina Breitsprecher, the youngest daughter of Mrs. Caroline Jung, residing in Farmersburg township, Clayton County, Iowa, saw this world's light February 3, 1881, in Farmersburg township.
Our departed sister received the Holy Baptism in our Zions Lutheran church. Here she was confirmed too.
On February 21, 1901, she was united in marriage to Mr. Ed. Breitsprecher, standing filled with deep mourn before the coffin. To this blessed union 4 children were born: namely, Mahalia Schmalfeldt, Cora Breitsprecher, Mabel and Florence. Her beloved father died May 14, 1905, one sister, Annie, preceded her in death 19 years ago. Our departed sister is survived by her dear mother, Mrs. Caroline Jung and by her sister Mrs. Minnie Rantzow. How unspeakably mournful is this grave loss for her beloved husband, how extremely painful must be this loss for her 4 deeply afflicted children, for her sorrowing mother and sister.
She passed away at the Glawe Hospital, at Elkader, after a grave gallstone operation. It was a hard loss for all that knew her. She gave up her best to her husband, children, mother and sister, her friends and neighbors. Her sorrowing husband, children, mother and sister wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to all relatives, friends and neighbors who have lent a helping hand during the sickness and death of this departed sister and who have decorated so nicely the bier with all kinds of beautiful flowers.
She passed away at the age of only 42 years, 4 months and 19 days.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 24, 1923, afternoon 1:00 o'clock at the mourning house and at 2:00 o'clock at the Zions Lutheran church at Clayton Center. Rev. Wm. Wuestenberg, the pastor, officiating. The mortal remains were laid to rest in the new cemetery of the Zions Lutheran church at Clayton Center. If I interpret right, she says to us now:
Say not, Good night,
But in that brighter clime
Bid me Good Morning.
