Elkader Register, Thur., 31 May 1923.

Mr. Herman Bottleman was born Aug. 11, 1842, at Scharmbeack Bremen Pr. Hanover, Germany, and died May 19th. He came to America in 1862, stayed during the summer of that year in New York City, from thence he came to Chicago to Iowa.

He was married to Mary Fick of Baartz-Lenzen, Brandenburg, Germany, Oct. 18, 1865. This union was blessed with 8 children. He is survived by his wife and seven children, Mrs. Elsie Ross at home, Mrs. Meta Pollock at Oelwein, Herman at Northwood, Henry and Mrs. Gentz at home, Mrs. Lena Slone at Arlington and John at Summerfield, Florida. One child died in infancy. 25 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren also survive.

Burial was made at the Mederville cemetery by Rev. W. J. Lewinske of Elkport.
