The childhood neighbors and friends of Mrs. Helen Russell Clifton of Thompson, Iowa, were shocked Wednesday afternoon when they learned of her demise and that she was being brought that night for burial in the Monona cemetery. She was the oldest daughter of Wm. Russell, who one time was a prominent farmer and dairy man, owning the farm now occupied by Robert Miller, Helen assisting in the dairy. She married Chas. C. Clifton several years ago. He was buttermaker for the Luana Creamery Co., at the time. Our sympathy goes out to the bereaved husband, two sons and one daughter, mother, three sisters and brothers who are left to mourn. Funeral services occurred Thursday afternoon from the home of her brother, Eugene Russell, at Monona.
